About Collagen Peptides

Collagen is the most abundant protein in the body – it makes up almost one-third of the whole-body protein. Collagen is an important building block for skin, hair, nails, joints, ligaments, tendons, bones, muscles, and blood vessels. As we age, we naturally produce less collagen, which shows up in our skin as loss of firmness and elasticity.
Collagen derived from animal sources can be taken orally in the form of collagen peptides. Collagen peptides are made when collagen is hydrolyzed (predigested by enzymes) to break it into smaller segments – only a few amino acids long (peptides), rather than hundreds of amino acids long. This makes collagen peptides much more easily absorbed.

The Thorne Difference

Thorne uses a unique form of bovine collagen that consists of uniform, hydrolyzed, low-molecular-weight peptides. It consists of type I and III collagen fibers – the most important collagen types for maintenance of skin health.* The collagen is derived from free-range, grass-fed cows and is hormone-free. These peptides are extracted without harsh chemicals and in a green-friendly process.
